Appearance:

Flora is a teenage girl with very light, dirty blonde hair that often resembles the colour of wheat or straw, and striking ice blue eyes. She is short, skinny, and rather delicately built due to stunted growth as a result of malnutrition. Her hair is often wild and messy despite attempts to keep it tidy by wearing it in twin braids. Her skin is also very pale and sickly looking due to living in poverty for most of her life, however, after a few weeks living on the Phantomhive estate, her body does fill out a little bit more, and she gains some healthy colour in her cheeks. Her nails have also always been a dull grey colour, a sign of her once being a part of a demon. 

While living in poverty in London, Flora wears a dark green tattered dress that falls to her ankles, with a dirty white apron over the top of her dress. Her clothes are often covered in dirt, charcoal and paint from her work. She also wears black stockings and black leather boots. She also occasionally wears a brown woollen cloak when outside in colder weather. When living in the Phantomhive manor, she wears a long black dress with a white apron, black stockings, and black boots. She also often wears a small silver cross necklace that belonged to her mother. 

Personality:

Flora is a very shy and quiet girl. She suffers from acute social anxiety, and tends to be very awkward and unsure around other people. She also suffers from a mild case of selective mutism, meaning she is only able to talk to and around people she is most comfortable with. Due to her background in poverty, Flora is largely uneducated. When first arriving at the Phantomhive estate, she was unable to read, write, and complete even basic arithmetic. However, Flora does possess some artistic talent, being mostly self-taught in the skill as she copied her neighbour, John. She is able to copy and draw things from memory, sometimes even after just a single glance. 

She also shares her mother's love and knowledge of flowers.

Flora also adores any and all animals to a smothering degree, often much to the animals' displeasure, and usually attempts to keep any and all animals she comes across, regardless of safety and hygiene issues. 

Flora is also very simple and humble, finding luxury uncomfortable and overwhelming. Though glad to be rescued from the slums, she finds the Phantomhive wealth to be excessive, and she struggles to learn the strict manners and etiquette of high Victorian society. Due to this, Flora is often not considered highly intelligent. She often has a hard time paying attention, though when she is actually paying attention, she can be highly observant and tends to have a more 'outside the box' way of thinking, such as when she caught Ciel off guard during a game of chess. However, Ciel often continues to describe her as a '"simple-minded fool."' Despite all of this, Flora is overall very kind and caring, though at first, she is always very closed off and untrusting.   

History:

Flora's history technically begins with Sebastian and whenever he was created/born. She was once a part of his soul, both of them effectively being the same entity. However, this changed when Sebastian became a demon, consequently causing part of his soul (Flora) to be ripped away from him as punishment for consuming human souls. It is not known what happened to Flora during this time, but it can be assumed that she was floating around in limbo until she could be born within a human body as the demon curse foretold. When this happened, Flora would have no memory of being a part of Sebastian, developing her own consciousness when she was re-born, and becoming her own unique person.  

Flora was born on 13 January 1870 in the slums of Whitechapel on the east end of London. Her mother, Katherine Byrne, an Irish immigrant, would often work from one job to another, even resorting to prostitution in order to get by, though she appears to have the training and knowledge of a skilled gardener. Flora's father is unknown and is believed to be one of her mother's previous clients. Despite their circumstances, Katherine loved her daughter very much, and did everything she could to shield her from the harsh world around her. However, it didn't take very long for Flora to figure out the things that her mother got up to just to make ends meet. While Flora was young, the two of them shared a run-down house with a few other female friends of Katherine's (usually other prostitutes). Next door to them live Jonathon Swindon, who fell in love with Katherine at first sight. However, she never wanted to escalate their relationship to anything further than friendship.

Jonathon would often help out Katherine and Flora by supplying them with extra food and pieces of coal, especially if it would help keep Katherine from resorting to prostituting herself. He would help raise Flora to a point where she came to the view the man as a father figure, and she would frequently sit in his shop and watch him work. This is where she picked up her skill of drawing since she would watch him design furnishings for clients. After seeing richer children with toys, Flora began to design her own, and this is what created the side-business of the two of them designing and creating toys to earn some extra money. These creations became quite popular with the neighbouring middle class children. 

During her childhood, Flora would often have reoccurring nightmares, though they became less frequent as she got older. These nightmares would often be her personal experience and interpretation of being separated from Sebastian all of those millennia ago. 

From a young age, Flora was forced to work for a living due to her poor background. Her mother tried to shelter her as much as possible, but during tougher times, the young Flora would result to begging on the street which would frequently cause her to be mistreated by people passing by, and get into trouble with the police. One of her biggest fears was her and her mother having to resort to the workhouse. But Flora and Katherine always managed to stay out of it, no matter how bad things got for them. As a poor child, Flora received no formal education as school would have been too expensive for her mother. She did not learn to read and write, but instead, became more street-wise, and occasionally her mother would teach her about flowers and their symbolism. For the most part, Flora had to teach herself many of the skills that she acquired over the years. 

Tragedy struck Flora when she was around 8-years-old. An outbreak of cholera hit their neighbourhood, and Katherine contracted the disease due to the consumption of contaminated water (something which was unknown at the time). Katherine's deterioration was rapid, barely living past two days after her symptoms first appeared. Flora witnessed the entire thing and the event would scar her for the rest of her life. She tried to help nurse her mother, but it took only hours for Katherine to fall into a state of delirium. Sadly, she passed away, giving Flora a long lasting fear of loss and disease. When authorities arrived, Flora fled in fear that she would be placed in a workhouse. Jonathon tried to find her for many years, but Flora had believed that nobody would want her, and so did her best to evade capture.

For the next few years, Flora lived on the streets, begging and scavenging for food in order to survive. She would sleep in alleyways or in abandoned buildings. During this time, she became known to the police as a prominent vagrant, beggar and pick-pocketer. However, Flora always managed to evade capture due to her intimate knowledge of the labyrinth of streets that made up the slums of London. Flora would sometimes try to find work, but she would often always be scared away. She spent some time working at a variety of factories and mills, though she would often be thrown out after being late to shifts. At one point, she tried to find employment in an asbestos factory, something which would damage her lungs and contribute to her breathing difficulties over the next few years. However, Flora ran away on her first day after witnessing another child become crushed in one of the factory's machines. 

After this, Flora grew weaker and weaker and almost succumbed to starvation. Luckily, Jonathon had been walking by the exact same street Flora had curled up on and recognised her almost instantly. Flora had barely grown or changed in the years she had been missing, although she was now even skinnier than she previously had been. The two were finally reunited and Jonathon took Flora in without any hesitation, seeing it as his responsibility to take care of Flora now that Katherine was no longer around. 

From then on, Flora lived with Jonathon in his small shop and earned her keep by becoming his apprentice. However, during difficult times, Flora would still result to begging, stealing and scavenging in order to obtain food and other supplies. She felt happier and safer now that she was back with Jonathon, and had planned on helping him in the shop for as long as possible. Apart from this, Flora maintained little to no plans or hopes for the future. She refused to settle down and get married, like many girls would have done by the age of 16, and was especially terrified of the idea of having children after watching many of the women around her die in childbirth. 

For that moment, Flora was content with the way that her life currently was.

Trivia:

• Flora was originally going to be working as maid, but I decided that idea had been done to death by other writers, so I turned her into an apprentice instead.
• There were other names I debated before I ultimately decided on Flora. These names included other popular Victorian girls' names at the time including: Wilhelmina, Clara, Pearl, Josephine, Charlotte, Evelyn, Genevieve, Jemima, and Violet. I decided Flora matched her personality a lot more. Plus, it matched with the backstory idea that I had for her mother.
• I decided on her being the daughter of an Irish immigrant as Irish immigrants were very common in England at the time. Many of them fled from the potato famine in order to start a new life. This included my own personal ancestors. Irish people faced astonishing levels of discrimination. 
• Flora's middle name 'Niamh', meaning 'bright' or 'radiant', reflects her Irish roots, as well as her surname 'Byrne', which originates from 'O'Broin', which means 'raven'; a reference to Sebastian.
• Flora suffers from selective mutism, a disorder in which sufferers are unable to speak in certain social situations. It is a type of anxiety disorder that literally renders people unable to speak, and can cause anxiety-like symptoms. 
• The ways in which Flora is often seen scavenging in the story were all real scavenging methods used by poor people during Victorian times.
• At the beginning of the story in which Flora often coughs and struggles to breathe is caused not only by the London smog and damp, dirty conditions, but is also the result of exposure to the material asbestos, of which use became common during the nineteenth century. 
• Cholera, the disease which Flora fears the most, was a real disease that ravaged the slums of England during the 1800s. It was caused by contaminated water, and death was usually assured within 24 hours. Due to her fear of sickness and disease, Flora could technically be classed as a hypochondriac, despite arguably her fears being well placed.   
• Flora's love for animals was inspired by the fact that she often doesn't communicate well with people, so she it made sense that she would seek social interactions with animals instead. 
• Flora's hair was originally going to be black. 
• The slang that Flora uses is all real, genuine Victorian street slang.
• The neighbourhood in which Flora lives in London was a real place. The location of buildings are all accurate, and the street in which she lives was a real street during the nineteenth century. The street still exists to this day, though the slums were cleared many decades ago now. You can find it on Google Maps and everything.
• In chapter 4, Flora was not exactly pleased to receive brown bread. This is because in Victorian times (and during most of English history) white bread was believed to be better for you. The whiter the bread, the more posh you appeared. To take advantage of this, a lot of bakers would add chalk and other nasty substances to their bread in order to make it appear whiter and sell it at inflated prices. This is why Flora only trusts a select few bakeries as she became wise to this trick.

Lily has extremely fair blonde hair that almost appears white in colour. Her eyes are red, and Seras comments on just how much she looks like she did herself when she was a young child. Her features are slightly softer than that of her twin-sister, Luna, but they overall look very much alike apart from hair colour. Lily also has very pale skin, round child-like features, and a button nose with shell pink lips. Although she is 10 years of age, her appearance more matches that of a typical 2-3 year-old, since vampire child age a lot slower than human children. When she first appears, she is wearing a red sleeveless dress, the length of which reached her knees, with white tights and black Mary-Jane shoes. 

Personality:

Most of the time, Lily is very quiet, shy and reserved. She often keeps to herself, silently observing the world around her. She is more outwardly caring and considerate, and is also obedient for the most part. Though she possesses a typical childish sense of humour, and enjoys pranking people with her twin-sister, Lily often quickly realises when things have gone too far, and is often the voice of reason between the pair. She is usually unable to hide her own fear, but can put on a brave face when needed, especially for the people that she cares about. Though she fears a lot of her sister's pranks and jokes, she's not afraid of standing up for herself and will fight back when pushed too far, demonstrating a hidden short-temper she shares with her mother. 

Despite being on the more timid and quiet side, Lily also has a small fascination with blood and gore, and has no issues with drinking blood and harming creatures that attack her or the people she cares about. On that note, she loves and adores her family very much, and respects her parents to a high degree. Lily respects rules, and always likes to try and play fair. She gets angry when people cheat and use dirty tricks to get what they want, one of the main reasons for her arguments and clashes with Luna. 

Lily loves to read and draw, as well as play games. She especially loves it when her mother, Seras, reads to her, and she has a very active imagination. Lily's favourite stories include classic fairy tales, and different folk tales from around Europe, seemingly favouring the fantasy genre over all others. Because of this, she is sometimes viewed as a fantasist, possessing a more romantic view of her parents as king and queen of the vampire world while remaining wilfully ignorant of any pain and suffering that her family may cause. Though she is not as sadistic as her twin, she is still more-or-less apathetic towards violence and cruel punishments, viewing it as normal. Due to her love of fantasy, she often enjoys the medieval culture that her father was brought up in, and most of her games with her toys involve a medieval court-like setting. Like her siblings, Lily can speak many languages and is very educated and intelligent for her age. 

History:

Lily is the youngest fraternal twin daughter, born to Alucard and Seras sometime in the far future. Her sister, Luna, was born just a few moments beforehand. Her lineage automatically made her a princess of vampires and of the night. She is also a descendent of the House of Drăculești on her father's side, whose members were frequent voivodes (rulers) of the Kingdom of Wallachia, a once independent region of what is now modern day Romania. It can be assumed that Luna was born deep within one of Dracula's castles, most likely in either Wallachia, Transylvania, or possibly even Moldavia. She may be the fourth child born to Alucard and Seras in the future, but its possible that she may have even more siblings that were never mentioned. Due to her age, it can be assumed that Luna and Lily are currently the youngest since female vampires are only fertile a few times a century. 

While growing up, Lily's upbringing would have been typical of all vampire children. She was hidden away in what vampires refer to as a 'nest'. This is a hidden location where vampire families reside and raise their children and protect them until they are almost fully-grown. An innate instinct kicks in that makes them extremely protective of their young, so until the events of Double Trouble, Lily never would have seen the outside world. Despite being powerful, vampire children are vulnerable and easy prey to other vampires and creatures of the night. Due to her parentage, Lily would quickly be sought after to either be used as a weapon, bargaining chip, or be simply murdered on sight. A witch, an enemy of Seras, frequently vows revenge by utilising the royal vampire children somehow. 

Lily was raised by only her parents, and growing up in hiding never bothered her, as is the case for vampire children. She is frequently kept occupied through education and games, and spends most of the time playing with her siblings. As the youngest, Lily is often viewed as the baby of the family, something that she voices her displeasure towards occasionally. It makes her feel slightly smothered, especially due to her more introverted personality. A lot of the time, she likes to play by herself, especially when her siblings are becoming too rowdy. She especially loves playing with dolls and soft toys.

From the moment she is born, Lily is taught to control her vampire abilities, as well as how to defend herself. She is educated in languages, music, history, geography, maths, and many other subjects. From an early age, Lily formed a love for stories and fantasy. As a result, Alucard would sometimes teach her about courtly etiquette in medieval Wallachia, and this is something she really enjoys bonding with her father over. She makes Seras tell her a bedtime story every night, and unless she is really tired, she struggles to fall asleep without one.    

As a born vampire, Lily will continue to age slowly, with natural born vampires typically taking around 100 years to fully mature. As she gets older, she will slowly be allowed out into the world where she will be automatically powerful and respected as a vampire princess, and daughter of Dracula, the first ever and most powerful vampire. However, she will likely stay close to her family, as vampires have very close familial bonds, something which Integra likens to a pack of wolves.

• The name 'Lily' is of Latin origin, and often symbolises devotion and purity. It is also the flower traditionally associated with death and re-birth - very much like vampires. 
• The decision to have her age slower was due to the fact that most stories that include vampire children typically have them age quicker than humans. I wanted to try something different. 
• Technically, Lily has many other older deceased siblings from Alucard's time as a human. This also means that she is distantly related to many royal families within Europe.
• Lily may possibly be one of the first sets of vampire twins ever born. 
• Her personality is actually a small nod to the reported personality of Vlad Dracula during his reign. He was actually reported to be 'kind' and 'just', but had an obsession with law, order, and morality. Even the smallest crimes or acts of rudeness would result in harsh punishment. Lily's obsession with rules and her more obedient personality was inspired by this.
• Her favourite blood type is O negative.
• Lily's favourite fairy tale is The Goose Girl.
• Lily was created with the intention of being the yang to Luna's yin; twins that were opposites but also complimented each other since I thought the identical twin idea would be too cliché and on the boring side.  
• Her character's base appearance and personality was very loosely inspired by the character Kanna, from the manga/anime Inuyasha.
• Due to her popularity, I may create a mini series in the future featuring Lily and Luna and their many silly adventures together, allowing more of an insight into future Alucard and Seras as well. 
• Since Luna was essentially supposed to be a mini Alucard, Lily became a mini Seras. However, they are very much like both parents in a lot of ways.
• Lily is not yet old enough to possess a familiar. This ability will surface when she is around 50 years-old. In the meantime, she is very close with her father's familiar, Baskerville. Parents' familiars are just as fiercely protective of their charges' offspring. 
• Her favourite animal is the butterfly, and she often manifests them in her games.

Appearance:

Luna has the appearance of a small girl, with incredibly pale skin, red eyes, and long thick inky black hair. Although being 10 years-old, she more resembles the typical height and physical development of a 2 to 3 year-old, since vampire children age slower than mortal children. She also has a button nose, shell pink lips, and typical childish chubbiness and rounded features. Out of the twins, she appears to look the most like Alucard. When found by Seras, Luna was wearing a dark purple dress that fell to her knees, with black tights and black Mary-Jane shoes. 

Personality:

Luna is incredibly playful and outgoing, but also possesses a sadistic streak. She finds blood and gore fascinating, and she frequently enjoys physically and mentally torturing any creature that happens to be around her. This behaviour can sometimes extend towards her siblings, especially her twin sister, Lily. It is revealed that Luna threatens Lily's toys, often cheats in games, chases, and gets into fights. However, Luna does love her siblings a great deal, seeming especially close with her twin, whom she is very protective of, as well as her older sister, Sofia, the only person she will let touch her hair. Luna is also a very stubborn and difficult child, and tends to hate strangers invading her personal space, and doesn't like it when people touch her hair, whether be it brushing or washing. The actual reason for this is revealed to be because 'people pull on it too hard', suggesting she is actually more sensitive than she originally appears. 

Furthermore, Luna is also confident and blunt; she says whatever is on her mind. She appears to share her father's sense of humour, especially regarding annoying Sir Integra. Although very intelligent, she pretends to be much wiser than she actually is, taking charge in situations and insisting that she knows what is best, even though she actually doesn't fully understand the situation. She is daring to the point of recklessness, but underneath, she often is just a frightened child. She has a hard time taking responsibility for her actions, and lashes out when feeling angered or scared. She greatly loves and admires her parents, and her family is overall very important to her.

Despite her lack of physical development, her mental development is much more advanced for a child of her age. She is able to speak clearly and eloquently, both in English and other languages. As well as English, Luna can speak the old language and dialect of Wallachia, as well as modern day Romanian. It is also implied that she is fluent and currently in the process of learning many other languages. She is fascinated by the world around her, often exploring every detail of any new surrounding she finds herself in. She also loves history, particularly military history, and enjoys listening to Alucard's stories of war and massacre, much to Seras' chagrin. When she grows up, she wants to be just as powerful as her parents and rule the dark world of monsters with them.

She grows up as the trouble-maker of the family, and frequently pranks her parents and siblings, with her twin sister being her favourite target. However, she would never go so far as to truly hurt somebody that she loved. Though her antics may seem harsh and horrific by human standards, for vampires, it is more akin to typical childhood shenanigans and hijinks. But as well as vampire abilities, Luna is also taught to read, write, speak many languages, music, history, geography, maths, and many other subjects.

As a born vampire, Luna will continue to age slowly, with natural born vampires typically taking around 100 years to fully mature. Trivia:

• 'Luna' is the Latin word for 'moon'. The moon is often associated with lunacy, something that Luna tends to regularly display. I also like to imagine it as a reference to Alucard's love of the moon and the night.
• The decision to have her age slower was due to the fact that most stories that include vampire children typically have them age quicker than humans. I wanted to try something different. 
• Technically, Luna has many other older deceased siblings from Alucard's time as a human. This also means that she is distantly related to many royal families within Europe.
• Luna may possibly be one of the first sets of vampire twins ever born. 
• Her fascination with blood and gore was no doubt passed down to her from Alucard.
• Luna favours no particular branch of Christianity, viewing it as 'all the same.' Traditionally, she would have been baptized within the Eastern Orthodox faith as this was the favoured religion of Wallachia. However, it's entirely possible she could have been raised Catholic, as Vlad Dracula was originally a Catholic. But if Luna was actually baptized, the holy water, though not deadly, would be incredibly painful for her. 
• Her favourite blood type is AB positive.
• Luna displays disgust towards weaker vampires, just like her father.
• Her character was inspired by me originally imagining what a child of Alucard would actually be like. She was originally the first character created and was supposed to be an only-child. She was basically a mini Alucard (and still technically is to an extent). I find sassy kids hilarious, and I just knew that anything Alucard spawned would be a handful. 
• Luna appears to be the most popular character from the story.
• Due to her popularity, I may create a mini series in the future featuring Lily and Luna and their many silly adventures together, allowing more of an insight into future Alucard and Seras as well.
